  19. Yep, there's a difference alright, the Clarity is crap, and the Toccata is
  20. reasonable.

  22. Seriously though, the Clarity 16 is a Parallel port based sampler thats works
  23. with all Amigas but best with faster ones, its quality is supposed to be poor
  24. and crackly, even the Aura 12 cartridge sounds better at 12-bit resolution.
  25. The Toccata on the other hand is a Zorro 2/3 based board which was designed
  26. for Hard disk recording/mixing/editing and is therefore not really suited to
  27. playing multichannel music (Octamed 6 and later versions allow a sample to be
  28. played through it).

  30. The Clarity 16 is now discontinued so there will never be any software support
  31. other than the bundled sequencer, get a Toccata if you want a Hard-disk
  32. editing system for CD Audio mastering etc.. if you want multichannel sampling
  33. and playback get a Midi Rackmount sampler eg. Akai S1000 (not a PC+Soundcard
  34. as some people will have you believe is suitable).
