- Yep, there's a difference alright, the Clarity is crap, and the Toccata is
- reasonable.
-
- Seriously though, the Clarity 16 is a Parallel port based sampler thats works
- with all Amigas but best with faster ones, its quality is supposed to be poor
- and crackly, even the Aura 12 cartridge sounds better at 12-bit resolution.
- The Toccata on the other hand is a Zorro 2/3 based board which was designed
- for Hard disk recording/mixing/editing and is therefore not really suited to
- playing multichannel music (Octamed 6 and later versions allow a sample to be
- played through it).
-
- The Clarity 16 is now discontinued so there will never be any software support
- other than the bundled sequencer, get a Toccata if you want a Hard-disk
- editing system for CD Audio mastering etc.. if you want multichannel sampling
- and playback get a Midi Rackmount sampler eg. Akai S1000 (not a PC+Soundcard
- as some people will have you believe is suitable).
